It is no wonder that complaints about crony capitalism are not just confined to the trade unionists


RUTH SUNDERLAND: Sir Fred Goodwin paid �83bn to Merrill Lynch for advice on his doomed takeover of ABN Amro. It may be dwarfed by the multi-billion liabilities assumed by taxpayers. But this is still an enormous wad of cash.
